Bowen House Access Statement
Introduction
Bowen House is a Victorian End Terrace House, with 5 bedrooms over 2 floors. Due to the age and style of the property, we are not able to offer wheelchair access but are willing to help and assist anyone who would like to stay with us and has a special need.
We are available to discuss any special needs or requirements you may have.
The house has been well maintained and sympathetically decorated with a conservatory extension which is in keeping with the main house.
Pre-Arrival
Bowen House is situated 10 minutes from the City Centre and York Minster. The railway station is approximately a 20-30 minute walk away. Taxis are available on the station forecourt. There is a bus station located at Rougier Street, close to the railway station and again is within walking distance of Bowen House. The number 12, Pink Line, bus to Haxby goes along Huntington Road where you can get off for Bowen House.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
We have a car park at the side of the building which can take up to 5 cars depending on size. We ask that people park considerately to ensure everyone can use this valuable facility. If parking in the restricted space is a problem we are able to assist with this. We do not however accept any liability for any damage caused by taking this course of action.
Check In and Out Times
Guests can check in anytime after 2.00 pm and we ask guests to arrive by 7.00 pm at the latest. Arrival at times other than this can be accommodated however this must be agreed in advance. We would ask all our guests to let us know their anticipated arrival time. Check out time is 10.30 am.
Main Entrance & Reception
We have a large front door which leads into a compact hallway and corridor, this can be a little restricting particularly with bags, but we always endeavour to help you with your bags where we can. When guests arrive they are shown through to the Conservatory to check in and register.
There is a bell at the reception that can be used to gain attention and assistance. Leading from the main entrance is stairs to the first floor (2 double rooms and 1 twin room) and the second floor (2 double rooms).
Public areas
Stairs to all floors, breakfast room in the Conservatory.
Dining Room
Breakfast is served in the Conservatory.
Bedrooms
Bowen House has 5 rooms, one twin room with private bathroom along the corridor and down stairs to the half landing. Three double en-suites and one double flexible ensuite room that can be used as a family room.
All bathrooms only have a shower, toilet, washbasin, mirror and an electric shaver points.
Wifi is available subject to the location of the receiving computer and the restrictions of the dense fabric of the building.
Access to rooms is available at all times, except after breakfast for servicing purposes.
